This is supposed to be a visualization to show how many planes were coming in during the peak of the Berlin Airlift (which is every minute or so). I (Quinn) really made this because I was bored and wanted to challenge myself a little. Hope you like it
If you don't know what the Berlin airlift is and are really confused, I'll attempt to explain. After WW2, Germany was split into 4 parts each given to the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union. The same was done to the capital city - it was split into four parts between those four countries. But, the city was surrounded by Soviet controlled Germany. When the three parts controlled by the U.S, UK, and France started collaborating more, the Soviet Union got mad and started blocking supplies from entering West Berlin (the part controlled by the 3 countries). Since all forms of land transport were blocked, West Berlin was no longer getting the supplies they needed. So the US Air Force and UK Royal Air Force worked together to fly supplies in to Berlin, which we now call the Berlin Airlift. The US Air Force contributed with larger payloads, using C47s, while the UK did smaller payloads.
At it's peak, there were as many as 1,400 aircraft landing at Berlin Tempelhof (the main airport) every day bringing in supplies. This simulation shows how many planes would have landed at the airport in real time.
